A Happening Shonen Anime in 2021

Shonen anime (a genre of anime for teenage boys) In the past decade or two, has become very popular and dominated. It is undeniable that the cause is the popularity of the top three shonen anime, namely Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. With two names already “retired,” many fans think that new anime, not only the shonen genre, can already surpass the popularity of the three big names.

New anime that have sprung up can even say that they exceed the top three of the original thanks to their fresh narratives, cutting-edge animation, and fun character cast. Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen in particular are two of the best breakout anime in recent years, but also one of many. The following is a series of shonen anime that is happening in the Mariviu version of 2021:

The best modern shonen of this generation is undoubtedly the Demon Slayer. Shonen Anime That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime

Episode: 36 Episodes

The Isekai-Shonen blend, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is another recent success story for the genre. Satoru Mikami is a stereotypical salary worker who suddenly loses his life when he is stabbed in the streets of Tokyo. Satoru wakes up in a new fantasy world (in the stereotypical Isekai style), but with a twist. She was reborn as a blue slime, with the power to mimic almost anything and everything.

Viewers can follow him on a fantastic journey to cultivate his new powers and meet many new people along the way while gaining immense power and using the new name ‘Rimuru Tempest.’ That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a dream come true for fans Isekai. Its settings and power systems are very reminiscent of classics like Fairy Tail, giving Shonen and Isekai lots of new life.

4. Shonen Anime Blood Blockade Battlefront

Shonen Anime Blood Blockade BattlefrontEpisodes: 24 Episodes
Production: Bones

Blood Blockade Battlefront is a pretty happening Shonen anime but is slightly underrated compared to the other names on this list. His name is sticking out again because the news season 3 will be released on February 18th. In this universe, monsters exist and coexist with humans. New York City has since become Hellsalem’s Lot and a group called Libras are working in the shadows to maintain a fragile peace between humans and monsters.

Leonardo Watch finds himself joining this secret organization when he accepts the “All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods,” putting himself on a perilous journey to find out why. Blood Blockade Battlefront has a very unique premise for a Shonen anime that combines some excellent animation with dark plot points and great comedy.

5. Shonen Anime Fire Force

Episodes: 48 Episodes
Production: David Production
Fire Force is about firefighters putting out fire with fire. In a world where humans can instantly catch fire and become fiery devils called Infernals, a group of firefighters uses fire-themed magic to combat them and protect anyone trapped in them.

Protagonist Shinra tries to become a hero, but he must deal with the feud within the Fire Army, as well as the group of shadows who claim to be behind the arson. The main attraction of Fire Force is the pyrokinetic magic system, which is very complex, and the animation of battle scenes that use this power in many amazing ways.

6. Shonen Anime The Seven Deadly Sins

Shonen Anime The Seven Deadly SinsEpisode: 100 Episodes
Production: A-1 Pictrures & Studio Deen

Another old series is The Seven Deadly Sins. After the Holy Knights of Liones staged a coup and overthrew the kingdom, Princess Elizabeth desperately sought out the disbanded Knight order to help her reclaim her home. Each member of the order is loosely based on one of the seven deadly sins of the Bible and comes with their unique strengths & personalities.

Their leader Meliodas works with Elizabeth to find her former comrades so they can reunite and save the kingdom. A fairly unique middle-age-themed setting coupled with some interesting characters and spectacular battles makes The Seven Deadly Sins a tense anime.

7. Shonen Anime Seraph Of The End

Shonen Anime Seraph Of The EndEpisodes: 24 Episodes
Production: Wit Studio

Seraph of the End is a gritty entry into recent Shonen history. His tone was dim from the start when viewers learned that a virus that kills people over 13 has wiped out a large part of the human population, and some of the young survivors were captured by vampires and kept as a source of scarce food. Yuuichirou and Mikaela are two survivors who managed to escape from a vampire but at a great price.

Yuuichirou vows to destroy the vampires and become a member of the Imperial Demon Army for revenge. Seraph of the End fills the void for anime fans who need a little more despair and darkness in their Shonen anime, to the point that many are asking for a continuation of the third season. Maybe you too will join the call for continuation?

8. Shonen Anime Black Clover

Episode: 170 Episodes
Production: Studio Pierrot

Black Clover is one of the longest-running Shonen anime in recent years. We follow Asta’s story in this fantastic Shonen series, a young boy who doesn’t have many important talents or skills, at least when compared to his adoptive brother, Yuno. When Yuno is given the rare four-leaf clover grimoire, it looks like their lives will take a different path.

That is until Asta obtains the rarer five-leaf clover grimoire or ‘Black Clover’, which grants him a special dark power. Black Clover has adopted many of the tropes and themes from some of the great Shonen series in recent decades but puts it all under a fresh coat of paint.

9. Shonen Anime Dr. Stone

Episode: 35 Episodes
Production: TMS Entertainment

The next shonen anime that is happening is Dr. Stone. This anime changes the Shonen formula to add its uniqueness around science and technology. The story begins with protagonist Senku and everyone on Earth wrapped in stone & left like statues for the next 3,600 years or so. Senku was the first human to wake up and he immediately worked on his goal of bringing humanity back to the standards of modern technology.

There is a strange fascination with studying how the technology people use today can be made using only what we find in nature (although some seem too artificial). It’s always entertaining to tune in and see what Senku and friends make each episode.

10. Shonen Anime Jujutsu Kaisen

Episodes: 24 Episodes
Production: MAPPA

Jujutsu Kaisen tells the story of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who is stupid but incredibly athletic. His world was turned upside down when he suddenly found out about the existence of the Cursed Spirits and the Jujutsu Sorcerers who drove them away.

After a series of rather bad decisions, Yuji found himself with a choice: join the Sorcerer Jujutsu school and fight against the Cursed Spirits, or be executed. Jujutsu Kaisen tells a very gripping story that builds on the standards that Shonen anime has set while adding a unique layer of deeply emotional and dark nuances.

Of the several anime series currently happening in 2021 by Mariviu’s version, are there any readers who are waiting for the arrival of the new season?
